KIGALAMA WELL
Giving Life, Love, and Hope Through Water
All we have to do is turn on the tap in our kitchen to get clean drinking water. For our friends at Maranatha Schools this is not the case. The Kigalama Primary School used to get its water from a well that was about one mile from the school. They had to hire a man on a bicycle to carry the water to school each day.
In May, a borehole well was completed at the Kigalama School. This well will provide all the water needed for drinking, food preparation, and greatly improved hygiene conditions at the school. Over 260 students and the community will benefit from this project.
KidsUganda was fortunate to partner with Water For Our World to jointly fund the Kigalama well project. To raise funds for this initiative and deliver on its mission of giving life, love and hope through water, Water For Our World sponsored a “Change for Change” program at Deer Valley United School District in Phoenix, Arizona. Over 20,000 students were educated about the lack of access to potable drinking water around the world. Students raised money for the well by collecting coins in water bottles. KidsUganda raised funds for the well through the Bright Night benefit.
