2010 Accomplishments

Here's an overview of what we accomplished in 2010:

  1. Acquired a plot of land next to the school in Mizigo that will be used to build a new Boys Dorm and relocate the church.
  2. Built a new kitchen for Mizigo with fuel-efficient stoves that will consume 60% less firewood than the open fire cooking techniques that were previously used to cook for the children.
  3. Grew the Child Sponsorship program to 81 sponsored children with a 93% renewal rate.
  4. Provided $5,000 per month in operational support to the schools of Maranatha.
  5. Delivered additional laptop computers to equip the computer lab at the Mizigo Primary School.
  6. Worked with Solar Light for Africa to install solar panels at the Nkonya School to provide lighting for the classrooms.
  7. Added a second flock of laying hens. As of fall 2010 the egg laying operation was providing eggs to the school and generating a profit.
  8. Purchased a truck to transport laid eggs to market.
  9. Kids Uganda Youth Board raised almost $50,000 to build the Boys Dormitory on the new plot of land.

There are plenty of projects to continue in 2011 and the needs of the children and Maranatha schools continue to grow. We thank you for your
contributions in 2010 and look forward to an even more successful 2011.
