NEW! BOYS' DORM PROJECT

Donate to the Boys' Dorm Project
Your donation will help build a boys' dormitory at the Mizigo school, where boys are currently living in a converted, unfit classroom. This new dormitory will give the boys the same living conditions as those in the new girls' dormitory built last year, and a greater opportunity for success.

ADVENTURE IN SERVICE TEAM IN AFRICA

In February 2010, 26 people traveled to Uganda on a life-changing trip, to visit Patrick and Eva Walusimbi and the children of Maranatha. Smiling faces abounded as 16 adults and 10 high school students visited each of the schools of Maranatha, including the newest school, Kyetume, visiting with the students and teachers at each school. Activities included dancing, singing, duck-duck-goose, and Q & A sessions with the kids in their classrooms. The Adventure in Service Team was also able to bring much-needed school supplies, clothing, medical supplies, and science equipment to Maranatha. Visit the Adventure in Service Blog to see pictures and read about this incredible trip of a lifetime.

Building a Bridge Between Two Communities
A project between Lake Bluff students and Maranatha students was developed in which children in both communities taught each other about the life in their respective communities through "daily life" videos. Michael and Sara Donhost visited Maranatha to share the Lake Bluff videos and create similar videos with the children there. The Uganda videos were shown in all three Lake Bluff Schools, highlighting the achievement of the schools' fundraising efforts for Maranatha's chicken farm. Click here to view these videos.
